Math has always been an intimidating subject for me. It wasn’t so much that I doubted my own ability in math, but I doubted my own ability to teach it to my children. I have used no less than six different homeschool math programs in the past eleven years and by far my favorite one is Teaching Textbooks!
Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 2.0 is a pleasure to use. This newly updated version includes the automated grading on the CD-Rom. This means the student can work the problem, enter his answer and get immediate feedback on whether his answer was right or wrong. I can’t tell you what a difference this has made in our homeschool day!
Every Algebra lesson is presented with an audio and video clearly explaining the lesson. The student then works the algebra problems and knows immediately if the answer is right or wrong. This instant feedback is highly motivating for the student and certainly makes mom’s day easier! Teaching algebra has never been easier
With many other programs I have used, there is a brief explanation and then the problems are assigned. Even with a solution manual showing the answers, there is often no clear explanation of how to get from point A to point B. This is definitely not case with Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 (2.0)!
The explanations and clear and easy to follow.
This program also includes a digital gradebook that can be edited by the parent which is very convenient.
The interactive lectures on the CD-Rom are just like having a tutor in your own home. This promotes independent learning, which is the best outcome of the program in my opinion.
I only wish this Algebra program had been available when we first started homeschooling. We would have had much less frustration! However, maybe I wouldn’t have appreciated it near as much.
Teaching Textbooks is the only homeschool math program that was designed specifically for homeschoolers. The text is easy to understand for the parent and the student and promotes independent learning. We love the CD-Rom teaching - just like having your own math tutor!
